In Hurst we are very lucky to have an amazing network of over 60 volunteers available to offer help should you need it for shopping, collecting medications or just someone to have a chat with during these difficult times.

If you would like to speak to us, or want to ask for help for yourself or a neighbour, please view the list of helpers and we'll see how we can help.

You can easily find volunteers in your area - just select your road or click on a map.

Some volunteers have offered to have a chat on the phone, some have offered to collect any medication and some to shop. If the volunteer cannot help directly, they can contact another volunteer for you.

All the usual restrictions apply. Please wear a face mask, maintain social distancing during and after the service, and if you have any COVID-19 symptoms then join in from home instead.

Hurst Pantomime Group
As many of you know, Hurst Pantomime Group have been putting on pantos in the Village Hall for nearly 20 years! We will be rehearsing a new pantomime from September 2021 to perform on 20th - 22nd January 2022.
We would love to have a good mixture of familiar and new faces and would like to invite anyone interested to attend our AGM and launch event on Thursday 8th April at 7:30pm via Zoom.

Pubs
Hospitality venues will be allowed to serve people outdoors at Step 2 and there will be no need for customers to order a substantial meal with alcoholic drinks and no curfew, although customers must order, eat and drink while seated ('table service').
Wider social contact rules will apply in all these settings to prevent indoor mixing between different households.

See the lake come to life on our Springwatch paddles on stand-up paddleboards or sit-on-tops. Look out for our waterfowl chicks like ducklings, cygnets and goslings and our beautiful colourful dragonflies. Finish the paddle with a nice warm drink and slice of homemade cake at the Activity Centre.
You can choose between our morning or afternoon paddles.

Elections are scheduled in the following Borough and Parish Wards: Wokingham Borough Council - Hurst Ward (1 seat)
St Nicholas Hurst Parish Council - Ashridge Ward (1 seat), Davis Street (1 seat) and Village Ward (8 seats)

Out of Lockdown - Step 3
Social contact
As part of Step 3, no earlier than 17 May, the government will look to continue easing limits on seeing friends and family wherever possible, allowing people to decide on the appropriate level of risk for their circumstances.
This means that most legal restrictions on meeting others outdoors will be lifted - although gatherings of over 30 people will remain illegal.
Indoors, the Rule of 6 or 2 households will apply - the government will keep under review whether it is safe to increase this.
Pubs
Indoor hospitality will reopen - and as in Step 2, venues will not have to serve a substantial meal with alcoholic drinks; nor will there be a curfew. Customers will, however, have to order, eat and drink while seated.
Events
Up to 30 people will be able to attend weddings, receptions and wakes, as well as funerals.

Hurst Horticultural & Cottage Garden Society
Since 1902 the Hurst Horticultural Society has organised a village show and this year is no different.
The hall is booked, the band is booked and we are in full positive planning mode for this years 108th show on Saturday 21st August.
